                      MANUFACTURING COMPANIES
Sign Up for Coupons in the Mail

The best coupons you can use are from the Manufactured companies: Companies are more than willing to send you those grocery coupons if you know just where to look and how to ask for them. Companies respond to personal comments and will send you with all sorts of samples and coupons.  They want to know how you, feel about their products, and they will usually reward you with a lot of coupons for your trouble. They want to know how you, feel about their products, and they will usually reward you with a lot of coupons for your trouble. When your on their customer mailing list, they will continue to send coupons in the mail.

When contacting a company,  be very honest with your comments. The only way to get free coupons in the mail is by letting them know you heard about their product and would like to try it!  Mention the product's name ( companies have many different products).  It is better not to ask for coupons but to let them know of your interest. There are  companies that will send coupons right away, while others may take up to six weeks. Be patient. Your mailbox will soon be full of coupons.

Here is a list and I will be adding there e-mails in the future. Contact each company--letting them know you would like to try there product. Please send me an e-mail if you find a company that does not send coupons.  Remember they get tons of request.  Be patient!
I have been doing my homework to find more brands and writing suggestions that will send you coupons in the mail. I hope you have as much success as I have!

                                          Coupon Wave

Rimm Associates website is the "Best of the Best" coupons, coupon codes, freebies, sales, jobs, education and so much more. There are over 25 separate pages, each a different category. My goal is to bring everything a person is looking for in one place. Time saving, best quality, and savings!

First, Let's see if I can show you how to save money! When buying those favorite items, people will research for the best products, at the lowest cost. Why not do the same with groceries. Most people will make a list of what groceries that are needed, go to the store, not even checking what's on sale. WHY?

                                                   Couponing is money-
Do you know that coupons are worth $.25--$5.00 and more add up. Coupons can be higher depending on the service.  Would you throw away a $.25 or a $5.00 bill?  So why throw away a piece of paper worth this much?

I have been told several times that using coupons is a waste of time. To some of you maybe this is true. I will do my best to show you this is not the case. Do you know I’ve seen coupons sit on desks, tables, and counters, to be shuffled through a couple of times put back, never to be touched again till there in the trash?  I have never seen coupons grow legs, read ads, drive to the store, pick up the products and collect the savings!   It does take a little work and I will do my best to show you how!

                                         Couponing---It's Really Your Business:

COUPONING: A good strategy to save money on food, clothing and most items. Everyone eats, buys clothes, does activities. So why not save money doing so? It is not a get rich scheme, you really need to work at it, but in the end, you will find it worth it.

COUPON: A small piece of the printed paper that lets you get a service or product for free or at a lower cost. New coupons come out about every 4-6 weeks. There are stores that accept coupons but don’t double or triple and limit their offers to store-brand items. Some coupons may have store names on them and you can use these at other stores if the store permits.

Coupons have fine print also letting you know the rules and regulations. It is important for couponers to understand the guidelines, and staying within the legal boundaries when using coupons. Failure to do so could result in coupon fraud, which could lead to a criminal charge. You can find coupon rules and scam coupons at:
Coupon Information Corporation: http://www.couponinformationcenter.com/

Where do you start?  Truly, I’ve done the work for you!

1. You do need to set goals!
2. What will you need to reach your goal?
3. How much do you need to save each week?
4. How many hours do you have to spare?
5. Get family, friends, neighbors, work buddies on board. Lots of kids love this!
6. I guarantee coupons grow fast!

                                                         Make A Grocery List
When going to the grocery store if you're hungry, you find yourself checking out with way more than you than really wanted.  This is "Hunger Shopping" and can really hurt your wallet!
Make a list of groceries that you need for the upcoming week. or month.  You will only buy what you're wanting and can afford. The amount that you saved can go for other things.
                                                       LET’S GO!
Pick one or two stores, learn as much as you can about the store(s).
1.Get a copy of the store layout from customer service or make your own aisle-by-aisle of the store. This is a huge time-saver when you are organizing your coupons and making your shopping list.
2.Find the store’s weekly ad paper online or in-store.
3.Join the store’s savings card program, if available.
4. Find out about the store’s coupon policy (get a copy), rain-check policy, and senior or military discount program. For every store you shop, you need to get the store policy, not every cashier is updated.
KNOW the store’s policies so you don’t have an issue when you’re in the checkout line. No one wants to get to the register and have everything fall apart when your planning on saving money!
Grocery stores, retailers, and markets do not always have the same policies, all stores are not nationally owned.
Stores will have different rules for rain checks, coupons, and product amounts. You may get cashback if you exceed the value of your purchase at some stores, others may not! You can use one store coupon and one manufacturer’s coupon per item. If you try to use more, chances are you are violating store policy or the terms of one of the coupons you are already using.
5.Find out how long a store cycle lasts--usually every 6 weeks. You want to purchase the sale cost, not the full price.
6. There are tons of APPS now that help with coupons, save you money and some give you back money!

ORGANIZATION: The most important thing that thrifty shoppers need to know about couponing, be very organized. Make sure your coupons are organized before you enter the store. Looking for coupons when you are in line can be stressful. The smoother the transactions go, the easier your shopping trips become.
                                                 Types of Couponing Systems
Most effective methods for organizing your coupons are below--you can choose whats best for you.

The Three-Ring Binder       You will need to separate in catagories
1.Here are some categories--I also added some sub categories if you need to branch off the main category.
                                                        Baby/food/diapers.ect,
                                                        Baking/cakes/cookies/pie's
                                                        Batteries
                                                        Beauty/shampoo/personal
                                                        Breakfast
                                                        Cereal/dry/hot/pop tarts. ect.
                                                        Canned/veg,/tomatoes/fruit, ect.
                                                        Coffee
                                                        Condements/ketsup/mustard/a-1/, ect.
                                                        Cleaning/toilet/air freshers/cleaners
                                                        Dairy/milk/yogurt/butter
                                                        Diet
                                                        Drinks/water/juice/soda
                                                        Frozen, veg./f-fries/ice cream
                                                        Laundry/soap /bleach. ect.
                                                        Meats
                                                        Medical/eye,pain, first aid, ect.
                                                        Pantry
                                                        Pasta noodles, macaroni, ect.
                                                        Snacks/candy/cookies/chips,ect,

2. Sport card sleeves work great to hold coupons. There are many pockets on each sheet, you can see the coupon and expiration date easily. You can ad tabs on the sheets for your categories.

3.You can find the sleeves at walmart, office supply stores, or at my amazon store-on this page.

4. Next you need a 3 ring notebook--it does not need to be fancy--that's your choice. You will need a pencil holder for it. This will hold your scissors, pen, pencils, note pad, calculator. You can also find these items at walmart, office supply stores, or my amazon store on this page.

The Filing Box
1. You will need recipe box, index cards for notes, alphabet tabs, or tabs you can make your categories with. (Sample list above)
You can purchase items at walmart, office supply stores, or my amazon store on this page.

2.You will want to clip both online and offline coupons--you will have to use a paper clip to keep multiplies. I found using envelopes also to be helpful. You can write on the front if you have several envelopes.

Expansion File
1. You will need an expansion file, tabs for categories. (Sample list above) You can purchase items at walmart, office supply stores, or my amazon store on this page.

2..You will want to clip both online and offline coupons--you will have to use a paper clips to keep multiplies. I found using envelopes also can be helpful. You can write on the front if you have several envelopes.

Purse Coupon File
1. This is a very small coupon holder but great for shopping. It can hold what your planning on purchasing, plus any coupons you pick up at the store for your next visit.

You will need to keep files for rebates, copies of receipts for rebates, and grocery receipts. At the bottom of the receipts you will find specials you can use at a later date,
Have a folder to keep all your ads, so you have easy access.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Collecting Coupons: You need to first set aside a few hours a week to find new coupons. Sunday newspapers usually has 2-5 inserts in it. You can purchase these at your local store, or order them on line for a lot less, (address below)
NEWSPAPERS $1.00

Manufacturer Coupons--found in Newspapers, hanging from machines in the stores, found on packages, or sent to you in the mail..
Most important is the EXPIRATION date, the manufacturer's want you to use the coupon as soon as possible — Be a Confident Shopper by Understanding your Coupons.

READ THE FINE PRINT: Secondly is know what your reading.Know what your reading. Make sure you understand what product sizes are.
( EXAMPLE: Get 1.00 off when you purchase two 16 oz. Pepsi ) Or (.75 off when you purchase one item of 20 oz. or larger). If the coupon is for a 20-ounce bottle of Pepsi, don’t plan to use it with a 12-ounce can of Pepsi.)
There is a list of Manufacturer's you can e-mail to get free coupons on the left side of this page!

Couponing Group:  Once a month gets your friends, family and coupon clubbers together to do an  couponing exchange!  Lots of fun and can be very productive!  Coupon trading is a great way to get more coupons that you use a lot  of or get hold of coupons that you can’t find yourself.

Grouping coupons: You will need to find a way to keep tabs on expiration dates and maximize your coupon grouping. Don’t rush to use the coupons immediately. In order to use coupons effectively, you will often have to use them at a later date to combine with store sales. Be aware of the expiration dates, you don’t want good coupons to go to waste.

Start a system: List all multiple coupons you have. Put together with paper clips. Do not staple coupons. Make a plan to combine store coupons with manufacturer ones to increase savings. Take advantage of stores that double coupons for even bigger savings. Most stores have stopped the doubling of coupons, so really watch your coupons. Compare your coupons with the sales ads. Write your shopping list and ensure that you have the right coupons for the items included.

Stacking coupons: Combining coupons is known as ‘stacking’ and is one of the main goals used by couponers to save big bucks. Store sales coupon, plus manufacturing coupon. Your favorite store is having a sale, 10 for 10, your coupon reads $.50 off. If the coupon doubles, you get the item free.
Or you have a store coupon for $.25, a manufactures coupon for $.25, put them together makes $.50 off. Making that item $.50 a piece.

BULK BUYING:  at bottom prices: It is essential to know when prices hit rock bottom. A general rule, the 6/ 8-week cycle. Take notes of which products go on sale, that way you know that it is the lowest price for that item. Keep a record of prices during sales so you can determine the best time to stock up. When buying a large number of items, contact your store manager, so he or she can order more of the items you need. This leaves items on the shelves, making everyone happy. If you have coupons for the items ordered, let the manager know, so the cashier is aware and the items can be brought out when picking up.. Makes your shopping smoother.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can find a lot of coupons on the internet, so most of your time is spent looking through coupon websites. Save those sites in some kind of a file, it makes the next search so much faster! My advice is to first gather as many coupons you can from various sources, then sort through them one by one. There are also, websites that upload electronic coupons directly to your store rewards cards.

COUPON.COM: http://bcg.coupons.com/link/index/1192440001/153741
When you PRINT coupons, you can only print 2 of each item, from each coupon site!
Do not photo the coupons-the store will not accept and you may open yourself up to legal issue's!

Loyalty program: Signing up for store loyalty programs, another saving. Some stores won’t allow non-members to shop at sale prices. You won’t be able to use online special coupons unless you become a member.

E-Coupons or Digital coupons is a very convenient way to save money at the grocery store. Free coupons load directly to your participating grocery store savings card, so there is no paper to lose or to forget.  E-Coupons are electronic coupons that load onto your grocery store loyalty card.
When you purchase the sale items, scan your store card, the ecoupon amount automatically comes off your total at checkout . Not all stores offer the ecoupons.
You will need to have a store loyalty card to load the ecoupons onto.
Also, you need a different loyalty card for each store that you shop at.
Log onto one of the store/ companies that distribute ecoupons and register with them.
Once you sign up, you’ll have to enter a name and email address. You will also need to select your store name, and then enter the number from your store card. This step is very important, the ecoupons will load to this card. Now brows the coupons, select the ones you want and they are automatically added to your card. Just swipe the card and the coupons automatically comes off of your total.

Can I use  or download ecoupons during shopping?  Yes
If your phone is web-enabled cell phone you can install an App that will allow access to your account and load ecoupons during your shopping trip.

What rules apply to ecoupons?
ECoupons can only be used one time on one product. Once the coupon is used it removes off your list,
ECoupons do not double. Check with your store about their ecoupon doubling policy.
ECoupons can be stacked with manufacturer coupons and to increase your savings
ECoupons can be stacked on themselves. Often (varying by stores), Cellfire.com and Shortcuts.com ECoupons will come off for the same item. Stack a manufacturer coupon and/or Store coupon on top –  So even though they are single use, you can often use them to get items for free.
It is very common to have both electronic coupon and a paper coupon for the same item. If both are manufacturer coupons, you probably won’t be able to use both coupons on the same item.  When the product is scanned, the eCoupon comes off immediately, it eliminates your option of using the paper coupon, even if it is worth more.

How do I know if the ecoupon worked?
You’ll see the ecoupon’s amount under the item on your receipt, or  they will appear at the receipt bottom. If  not on the receipt, the ecoupons didn’t go through.
Call the ecoupon company and find out why. If you purchased the right products, they will reimburse you.

Many couponers: love getting a large number of items for nothing (or next to nothing), only do this if you can actually use that amount. Don’t leave the shelves bare, be considerate of your fellow shoppers and take only what you know you and your family will actually use.

Tear Pads: Vendors put tear pads and coupons out by their products. This is a favor to the consumer. Take a couple of these, but please do not take the whole pad or an excessive amount that is just RUDE! These are not put out for people to sell, this is a promotional tool to see what response the product is getting.

Peelies: Coupons found on products. These coupons are put on certain products in order to sell them faster. Do not remove them and save them for later. Buy the product and use the coupon at checkout. These are not also not to be removed for sale.

Blinkies: Found in the aisle at the store spitting out of a black box. The box usually has a red blinking light on it. Take a few of these — saving them for a sale if you are going to buy the product. Otherwise, leave them for the next shopper. These also are not to be sold.

Take One Box -SmartSource--  small boxes  located at eye level on store shelves, near the product which is being promoted. It dispenses coupons, recipes, rebates and other promotional material.

SmartSource Showcase Extra Food Coupons--located on the shelf near the promoted products and contains colorful cards that pop out to attract the shopper’s eye. They are also used to dispense coupons or rebates.

Freezer Extra Food Coupons-- coupons for products in the freezer section where the dispenser is attached.

Bottle Neck Food Coupons -- 5Hangtag Coupons coupons or rebate forms that are attached to the neck of bottles and jars. Often these coupons are for related food products and do not specify that a purchase of the bottled item is required.

On-Receipt Grocery Coupons-- printed coupons for future purchases at the store along with the receipt. These coupons are good only for the retailer’s chain of stores.

Grocery Coupons on Back of Receipt --coupons are pre-printed on the back of the register receipts paper. Usually they are for local stores such as dry cleaners or health clubs.

CVS Coupon Loyalty Card Scanners -- (e.g. CVS) have introduced coupon machines that will send out coupons when scanning your loyalty card,  always store coupons, and many of them are for the store’s brands.

Purchase coupons  --  coupons purchased from a clipping service for a small fee E-Bay, ect.

Stores ads: Can be combined with manufacturers coupons, for even more savings. Please do not take a stack of ads from a store in order to hold for yourself. You are not the only person trying to save money.

Coupon Clipping Services---They clip coupons that can be purchased for a small fee. The small fee is to to cover the cost of clipping the coupons, not selling the coupons. What is nice about a clipping services, you can purchase different kinds. You will have to check with to see how many you can purchase of each kind. Chances are you will find coupons not in your area yet. Below you will find a few companies

 E-Bay-----

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PEAK HOURS: Avoid shopping at 5 pm, fellow shoppers are trying to buy groceries for dinner. Cashiers, fellow shoppers that are waiting in line will get stressed out, which ends up being a bad day. Shop when the store tends to be less crowded, such as later at night or early in the morning. Crowds,  Don’t wait until the last day of the sale to shop, your store is likely to be out of the items you need!
Find out your store's ordering schedule. Then shop on the days you know they will be stocked. Most stores receive shipments 3 times a week on the same days. Keep in mind the time of day the shipments come in. Ask if they have items in the back. Many times the store has not had time to re-stock. Call right before you leave home, to see if your top 3 items are in stock. That will help you decide if it is worth a trip to the store. Try your three closest stores and choose the one that is stocked the best.

The shopper behind you has one item and no coupons, you have several items and coupons, let them go ahead of you. This is common courtesy and will give Couponers a better name.

TRANSACTIONS: The starting of a check out (including coupons), ending with a total on your grocery slip. You may have multiple transactions in one trip! Check your store policy to see how many you are allowed in one trip

If the store is out of any item you planned to buy, ask customer service for a rain check.

You discover while at the store that you can’t use a coupon and it is still valid, leave it for someone else who may be able to make use of it.

                                 STOCK - PILING
Stockpiling: takes organization and space. Yes, it's nice when you're short of something, money's tight, you know that your groceries are there. Be safe thou!

What To Stockpile: Stockpile only the things your family will use, its not a savings if it just sits on a shelf!

Key steps to take: Make a list of items you will use in a month. Check grocery sales papers to see what items are on sale. Check the sale prices with coupons for purchasing record your savings.

What Not To Do: Remember, the point is to save money and build up a reserve of useful items. Store items that will quickly spoil. Check of expiration dates. Once a month is good! Buy things most members of your family won’t eat. Buy more than you have room to store.

Stockpile storage: You will need space to store the items you're going to stockpile. Somewhere cool and dark. Heat and light can add to food deterioration. Basements provide protection, have enough room to set up metal shelving units. Other's use a portion of their garage, for paper products and toiletries, not the best for food storage if you live in a warm area. Make sure its sturdy, safe, and easy access for you. Groceries get heavy fast!

How To Organize Your Stockpile: How you store the food is as important as your collection of a stockpile. A monthly rotation of foods is a must in stockpiling. This keeps expiration dates in updated. Put dry goods such as cereals, snacks, etc. in sealable plastic containers eliminating bugs! If your concerned that water damage might occur or if you live in a flood area, make sure everything is on the higher shelf's. Below please find an estimated timeline for products in storage!

ALWAYS be kind to the cashier. There is always a manager if the checkout person has an attitude about your coupons, smile graciously and Thank them for their help. They may have had an unfriendly couponer or someone who tried to trick them into honoring coupons that weren’t valid. Have your method of payment ready. This is especially important if a line has formed behind you while the cashier was scanning your coupons. Your fellow shoppers and the cashier will appreciate anything you can do to make the process smoother. If you have a disagreement with the cashier, go to customer service about how you are using your coupons, politely ask them if a manager is available. If the dispute cannot be solved and you believe you are still in the right, follow up with a polite letter or phone call to the company that owns the store. You’d be surprised how often you will receive a response if you keep things civil. If you follow these simple guidelines, you and your fellow shoppers will have a more pleasant experience.

You will help make sure, that couponers everywhere, get to continue to do what we love – find great deals.

Don’t Throw Away Coupons! : When clipping ---take a few minutes to clip all of them. You may have friends, family or groups that you can give these to.Senior Citizens Centers, Salvation Army, Community Centers, Churches, Trading groups, Coupon Clubs, Couponing parties. You could even start your own couponing blog! Most of all the military! Military bases can accept and use coupons 6 months past their expiration dates. For a list of Military bases, you can find them on my other page!

Courage lives on!

CAUTION  ---- Becoming a Safer Shopper
Do not buy or use damaged, swollen, rusted, or dented cans,   especially if stock piling!
Choose unbruised fruits and vegetables.
Do not buy or use cracked or unrefrigerated eggs.
Pick up frozen and refrigerated items just before you check out at the grocery store.
Refrigerate groceries right away, and never leave perishable foods out for more than 2 hours.
Put raw packaged meat, poultry, or seafood into a plastic bag before placing it in the shopping cart, so that its juices will not drip on and contaminate other foods.

Matching up coupons with store sales, and knowing the stores that accept a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon for the same item, is the way couponers maximize their savings.

With the decline of grocery stores offering to double coupons, matching and stacking coupons is one way to make up for the loss. Not only does coupon matching cut the cost of groceries, but it also helps shoppers save hundreds of dollars on drugstore purchases.

Almost any time shoppers can double the face value of a coupon, it results in significant savings. Although there has been a big decline of grocery stores that offer double coupon days, there are still stores out there that do it. Take a look at the list of stores that still double coupons and see if there is a name on the list that has locations near you.

See a store on the list that is in a nearby city? Ask friends to take a ride with you and make it a mini day trip.

The internet is full of worthless websites with empty promises to save shoppers money. Many times, the websites are designed just as a way for spammers to capture email addresses from unsuspecting shoppers looking for ways to save. To avoid the problem, use this list of reputable websites offering free printable grocery coupons. The websites still require an email address during registration, but members can opt out of receiving email.

Part of the training for the management positions at grocery stores includes learning how to set up store promotions that look like promotions, but offer no real savings to shoppers.

Common ways to tempt shoppers into buying expensive impulse items includes:

Placing items children like near the checkout counters.
Setting up areas that may have one reduced item among the several items that are displayed.
Appealing to shoppers' moods with seasonal displays.
These are just a few examples. Learning the different strategies used at grocery stores to display "fake" sale items can help shoppers avoid falling for the tricks of the grocery store trade.

The practice of stacking discounts has become a popular savings strategy for budget-conscious shoppers. One of the reasons its popularity has grown is because retailers have discovered that it is an excellent way to draw customers into their stores. Learn how to stack coupons and discounts and start maximizing your savings.

There is a lot of money that can be saved by using coupons, but there are also ways that it can end up costing shoppers more money. Avoid the coupon pitfalls by learning how using coupons could actually increase your spending at the grocery store.

When it is time to go grocery shopping, one of the first things frugal-minded shoppers do is check out the grocery store flyers. But just like inside the stores, advertised deals in the circulars are not always money savers. Learn how to read between the lines of the advertised deals.

One way people get burned out when they first start using coupons is because they cannot find coupons for the grocery items that they like or need to buy. Knowing where the coupons you actually want are is the key to success.

Things change. Yesteryear, thrifty shoppers relied on cutting paper coupons to save at the grocery store. Today, shoppers have many more options. If you haven't moved on to using eCoupons and mobile coupons and you want to maximize your grocery savings, it is time to it is time to consider jumping into using mobile coupons. It's easier than you might think. In addition, buying groceries online can also help you find deals.

Understanding stores' coupon acceptance policies in your area is the best way to take full advantage of using coupons to maximize your savings. Every store has coupon policies specific to the region of the country where the store is located.

In addition, employee interpretation of a corporate coupon policy can often affect how customers can redeem coupons, even within the same chain of stores located in the same city and state. This is why couponers encourage all stores to have very specific and clearly written coupon policies. It helps remove the guesswork for both the customers and the employees.

Common Coupon Policies
There are common policies that govern all legitimate manufacturing and internet-printed coupons that most all stores follow. If a store fails to follow these policies, it risks not being reimbursed by the manufacturer for the coupons it accepts.

Manufacturers' and printed coupons should have the following information printed on the coupon:

Manufacturers' coupons must have "Manufacturer Coupon" printed on it.
Coupons must have a barcode that can be scanned.
There should always be a valid remit address (usually in small print) on the coupon.
Coupons should have expiration dates or "No Expiration Date" printed on the coupon.
All stores that accept coupons generally follow these policies:

The coupons must be clear, legible, and scannable, and be the original coupon. For example, if your friend has a coupon that you want, you cannot make a photocopy of the coupon and redeem it.
Only one manufacturer's coupon per item is accepted. For example, if you have two manufacturer's coupons for $.50 off Wonder Bread, you can only use one of the coupons for one loaf of Wonder Bread. If you want to use both coupons, you will need to purchase an additional loaf of Wonder Bread.
Most stores will not accept an internet-printed coupon that is for more than the regular price of the item. For example, if the Wonder Bread is regularly priced at $2.50, most stores will not accept a coupon that is for $5 off one loaf of Wonder Bread. This is because the amount of the coupon is double what the regular price of the bread is and is considered an excessive discount. Coupons with excessive discounts are likely fraudulent. However, many stores will accept a coupon that is over, if the coupon amount is close to the amount of the item. Most stores will redeem up to the price of the item. In other words, if you had a coupon for $2.75 off Wonder Bread, the store might accept it, but the coupon would only be redeemed for $2.50, which is the amount of the bread. Many stores (although not all) will not give cash back on coupons.
Individual Store Coupon Acceptance Policies
When deciphering store coupon policies, you will want to look for specific rules governing:

When? Stores may have special coupon days during the week or month. This could include a day when they double coupons, or offer store club members extra discounts or additional discounts to seniors.
How Many? Find out how many coupons are accepted per total transaction. Some stores allow as many coupons as you have items. Other stores set limits, like 10 coupons a day per transaction.
In addition, some stores limit how many "like" items you can buy with coupons. The store policy may state that they accept up to four "like" coupons for the same product, including all flavors, on the same shopping trip per day.
This policy has become more popular with stores as a result of the Extreme Couponing television series. In fact, many manufacturer coupons now have similar limits printed on coupons. It prevents couponers with multiple coupons from wiping out a store's inventory of a specific item.
What Type? Coupon limits are often set based on the types of coupons being redeemed. A store may accept an unlimited number of store-issued coupons, but only five internet-printed coupons. Other stores may have a policy that allows unlimited redemption of internet-printed coupons.
How Much? Some stores have a dollar limit on the coupons that they accept. This limit could be for the individual coupons or for the entire purchase. For example, a store might not accept internet-printed coupons with a face value that exceeds $5. Another store may limit coupons usage to $10 per transaction.
Other common coupon acceptance policies include:

Coupons Advertising Free Products
Most stores will accept manufacturer's coupons advertising free products, however, internet-printed coupons with the same offer are often declined. Almost all stores will refuse a coupon offering a free product without a purchase unless it is a store-issued coupon.

Black-and-White vs. Color-Printed Coupons
Almost all stores will accept coupons that are printed with black ink as long as the other coupon acceptance guidelines are met. This is a tremendous savings to couponers because the price of colored ink is so high.

Buy One Get One (BOGO) Coupons
Most of the large grocery and drug store chains will accept BOGO manufacturer and internet-printed coupons. In fact, some stores allow customers to use two coupons when redeeming BOGO coupons. This can be a real price saver for shoppers.

For example, if you had a coupon for Buy One Wonder Bread, Get One Free and you had a manufacturer's coupon for $0.50 off and a store coupon for $0.25 off, some stores would allow you to use all of them. Other stores will only allow a coupon for items purchased, not free items.

Catalina Coupons
Catalina coupons are coupons that print after you check out at the store. Many stores now accept competitors' Catalina coupons. Also, although some stores will not accept more than one coupon per item, they may accept a Catalina coupon for "dollars off" the entire purchase. Stores that allow stacking coupons (see below) and dollars-off Catalina coupons offer their customers the best savings options.

Competitors' Store-Issued Coupons
Many of the large chain stores will now accept competitors' store-issued coupons and honor their competitors' advertised prices. However, there are often strict guidelines as to what is considered a competitor. This is usually based on where the competitor is located in relation to the store where you are shopping. The customer service area of the store is usually the best place to find out which stores are considered competitors.

Stacking Coupons
Store coupon acceptance policies usually state if the store allows the practice of stacking coupons. This is when you use a manufacturer's coupon and a store coupon on the same item.

A store coupon is handled differently from a manufacturer's coupon. The savings is absorbed by the store and therefore using both types on one item is often allowed because it does not breach the general coupon guidelines which state that only one manufacturer's coupon can be used per item.

It would not be allowed, even in stores that permit coupon stacking, if the coupon states that only one coupon can be used per item because it does not specify which type of coupon.

Putting It All Together
As you can see, there are many different ways stores develop their coupon acceptance policies. Keep in mind that stores often tweak policies or make exceptions to specific items such as tobacco, prescription drugs, and seasonal and promotional products. By familiarizing yourself with the policies of the stores where you shop, you can take advantage of the different ways to save at each individual store.

Because of the many possibilities of what stores will accept and not accept when using coupons, many couponers bring copies of the stores' coupon policies with them when they shop. This is particularly helpful when checking out with a new cashier.

Generally, most misunderstandings can be resolved so that both the store and the couponer are satisfied. When that does not occur, customers are encouraged to contact the store directors or corporate offices, but solving problems at the store level makes for better harmony during future shopping trips.

How advanced are your couponing skills? Creativity pays big dividends when it comes to couponing. Learn how to increase your coupon savings with these ten slick strategies.

You can stack plates, you can stack laundry, but did you know that you can stack coupons too? Stacking means using more than one coupon for the same item. Increase your savings by combining a manufacturer coupon with a store coupon for the same item, or take it to the savings extreme by combining a manufacturer coupon with a store coupon, a sale and a rebate or coupon app.

How to Stack Coupons
Note: Not all stores allow coupon stacking. Review each store's coupon policy to see where you can employ this trick.

Did you know that the Sunday coupon inserts vary from region to region? It's true, and it's great news if you like to travel. Get in the habit of picking up a Sunday paper whenever you go out of town, and you're likely to score coupons that you've never seen before. If you find any really good ones, go ahead and buy several papers while you can.

Did this week's paper have a bunch of good coupons for items you love? Then, consider buying an extra copy – or copies. If you know that the coupons in this week's paper will save you $12, then spending $2 on another paper just makes sense.

Ways to Get Your Newspapers for Less

Find a store that discounts their unsold Sunday papers on Monday morning.
Buy your newspapers at Dollar Tree, where you'll pay just $1 each for them. Limit three.
Swing by your local coffee shop, fast food or breakfast cafe, and see if you can pick up coupon inserts that other people left behind.
Ask friends, family and neighbors to save their inserts for you.

Like freebies? Then try this: combine a buy-one-get-one-free coupon with a buy-one-get-one-free sale, and you'll get both items free. Not all stores allow this, but when you find one that does, it's a pretty sweet deal. Study the coupon policy for each store that you like to shop at, to see where this is allowed.

Lots of stores accept competitor coupons. Find out which ones in your area do. Then, work those coupons and sales to your advantage.

Stores that Accept Competitor's Coupons
Tip: Print out a copy of the store's competitor coupon acceptance policy, and bring it with you. Cashiers may not be as up on the store policy as you are.

Clearance prices are good, but they can get even better. Carry your coupons with you at all times, so you'll be ready to match coupons on the fly. You never know when you're going to come across a killer deal on a product that you use and love.

Most coupons specify the size of the product that must be purchased, but when they don't it's an invitation to get creative. Take your "any size" coupons to the trial size section of the store, and match them up to those pint-sized goodies. Then, load your cart with lots of free loot.

Many grocery stores double coupons, but some will even triple them from time to time. Do a little research to see if such a store exists in your area. Then, keep those coupons neatly filed and ready to go.

Before you head to the store, take a second to load coupons to your grocery card. Combined with clipped and printed coupons, your savings will be record-setting.

How to Add Coupons to Your Grocery Card
Note: You can only use one manufacturer coupon per item, whether it's a printed coupon or a digital coupon. You can, however, use a manufacturer coupon and a rebate app, like iBotta together.

Coupons can pop up anywhere (and I do mean anywhere). Keep an eye out for fresh coupon sources, and you're sure to find lots.

More coupons means more savings at checkout. It's simple enough math, but how do you get your hands on more coupons? Read on for several winning strategies to add to your arsenal.

Are you devoted to a particular product or brand? If so, check the company's website to see if they have a free email newsletter that you can sign up for. Subscribers are often rewarded with special coupons, promotions and freebies.

And it's not just the big national brands that do this. Make a list of the all the local stores and restaurants that you like to shop at. Then, see if they have a newsletter that you can sign up for.

There's no rule that says you can only buy one newspaper. So, when you discover a good coupon inside, go ahead and pick up an extra one (or five). Some stores discount their unsold Sunday papers on Monday, so you'll get those extra coupons for even less money out of pocket, if you track down a store that does this.

Tip: Buy your papers at the Dollar Tree, and you'll only pay a dollar a piece for them. They have a limit of three newspapers per customer to keep the extreme couponers in check.

People often leave unwanted portions of their newspapers behind at coffee shops, restaurants, bus stops and anywhere there's a waiting room. Keep your eyes open for the opportunity to take these home. If you have friends and family who work in such establishments, see if they'd mind saving the old Sunday papers for you.

Another way to get more inserts: Ask friends and neighbors who don't coupon to save their coupon inserts for you. They probably won't mind a bit.

Turn your phone into a source of savings by downloading a few coupon apps. Just have the cashier scan your phone at checkout, and your

coupons will automatically be deducted from your total. This is a great way to coupon, if you don't have the time or energy to clip coupons, or don't want to spend a bunch of money on printer ink.

Tip: Use little bits of downtime (i.e. when you're waiting on your kids or waiting for an appointment ) to check for new coupons.

Take a look at your favorite products and find the toll-free number listed on the label. Then, give those companies a call, and ask if they have any coupons that they can send you. While you're at it, check their websites, too. They may have printable coupons, a loyalty app or a newsletter you can sign up for.

Load coupons onto your grocery store rewards cards, and the savings will come off automatically when they scan your card at the register. This is another good way to get coupon savings even if you want to avoid using, storing and sorting paper coupons.

Most grocery store chains have digital coupons on their website that you can load to your card before you shop. These are usually single-use coupons, but be sure to look at the fine print. Some digital coupons can be used up to five times.

New printable coupons sites keep popping up. You're leaving money on the table if you don't browse them for savings on groceries and household goods. Make sure you're not missing out on any opportunities to print coupons.

Coupons are all over the place; you just have to look for them. Have you just been stuffing receipts and ticket stubs into your purse or wallet? Flip them over and you may discover coupons for the very items and entertainment you just bought.

Printing a Lot of Coupons? Use These Tips to Conserve Ink

Printing coupons is still a common practice, but using your own printer means using your own supplies.
